We have some good news for those of you with a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Although Samsung are keeping Note 3 users waiting with an official update to Android 4.4.2 Kitkit, it looks like an early Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 update is already available to download ahead of schedule.
If you are familiar with customizing your Android handset and have done so in the past, you should be very interested to know that a test version of Android 4.4.2 Kitkat for the Galaxy Note 3 is now live. The guys over at SamMobile are the ones to thank for the download – adding that this is the closest version that you can get which isn’t an official release from Samsung.
This Android 4.4.2 Kitkat firmware is identified as N9005XXUENA6 and is specifically for the Galaxy Note 3 with the model number SM-N9005.
As for changes, we hear that there are some cosmetic changes to the user interface. These include status bar icons changing from green to white, the addition of a camera shortcut on the lockscreen and the ability to view full album art when playing music from the lockscreen.
Perhaps more importantly, we’re also pleased to tell you that there appears to be a general increase in performance. You can find the relevant downloads in the link above – tell us if you have already downloaded this early taster of Android 4.4.2 for the Note 3, or if you prefer to wait for the official release from Samsung.
Be sure to read through the full instructions first before attempting, and as always – install at your own risk.
