Galaxy Nexus problems, sound issue video – are you affected?

Yesterday we enlightened you about some Galaxy Nexus bugs which were affecting users, at the time of our last post it looked like the Gmail and audio problems were the most frustrating, now we have a video which shows the sound issue in more detail and it looks very annoying to say the least.

A YouTube user who goes by the alias Duddyroar has uploaded a video which shows the problem occurring (embedded at the end of this post), despite having his thumb nowhere near the volume rockers you can see the Galaxy Nexus sporadically changing its volume level.

To us it looks like this problem could be a design fault rather than a software bug, but it’s hard to tell. Our best guess is that something untoward happened during the manufacturing process and now the casing sits too tightly to the volume buttons, that said Samsung will be hoping that there is a simple software workaround otherwise a recall may be necessary. One thing that is obvious is the fact that the volume rockers when used seem to work fine, which could negate our assumption that this is a hardware fault – who knows!

The biggest problem which this causes is the fact that you never know how loud your ringtone / notifications are going to be, you could be an important meeting and your phone could ring at full volume, likewise you could be awaiting an important call and not hear it ringing – it’s far-from perfect.

As and when we hear something official regarding this issue we will keep you posted, for now help us gain some feedback by answering the poll question below. Whilst your here please leave us a comment below explaining any workaround you have found or patterns you have noticed, it may help us pinpoint exactly what’s causing the problem.
