Fun iPad apps to keep the kids occupied for summer

Now the summer holidays are upon us sometimes it can be hard to find things for the kids to do while away from school. Younger children can be a bigger challenge especially when traveling or if the weather is not so good. So today we have some fun iPad applications which will keep the kids occupied and entertained for summer.

An application which has only just been released is PadDraw Holidays 1.0, which will give children the chance to get into the holiday spirit by coloring scenes from their favorite seasonal celebrations. The application has a range of coloring tools for young children to utilize. They can either color in pictures one block at a time, fully by hand, or using a mixture of different tools and methods.

Once they get the hang of the application they can color in the lines themselves, and contains beautifully rendered original artwork. There are more than a dozen coloring pages with three different coloring modes. There is an eraser tool which allows users to erase portions or all their work. Completed masterpieces can be saved to the device to be viewed at any time.

PadDraw Holidays 1.0 is available worldwide on the App Store for only $0.99/£0.69. iOS 4.0 or later required. Sea Colours is an application which is designed for children aged between 4 and 8, and teaches them to learn about colors from three bilingual stories.

The stories follow the life of three different sea creatures with each screen displayed side by side in English and Spanish. The application is great for bonding with your young child, and helping them learn to read. With colorful graphics and easy to use the application will have children having fun while they are learning. . Sea Colours 1.1 is available worldwide on the App Store for only $1.99/£1.49. iOS 4.0 or later required.

Another recently released iPad application is Roxie’s Doors 1.0 which is a lift the flap 3D search book. Users can choose to read this book themselves or read by the author, and find and animate more than ninety objects which are hidden behind doors, in drawers and in cabinets. Children will have great fun activating funny sounds, and they can increase their vocabulary by searching for an object which may have new words for them.

Over features of the application include over 100 animated objects, tilting the device to reveal hidden corners of the screen, and helps to stimulate children’s curiosity. Check a video of the application below. Roxie’s Doors 1.0 is available worldwide on the App Store for only $2.99/£1.99.
