We have recently heard that the inventor of the frisbee Frederick Morrison, has died, he was 90 when he passed away yesterday.
It is thought that Morrison’s popular invention was inspired after playing with a metal cake pan on the beach, I very much doubt he ever thought it would ever become this popular.
Originally Morrison planned to call the disc a Whirlo-Way, however soon after settled with the name frisbee. The frisbee was financed and co-developed and by Warren Franscioni in 1948.
When it was first marketed it was under the name Flyin-Saucer, it was mid way throughout the 1950’s that the frisbee really began to see success.
Any good frisbee memories? Feel free to share them in the comments section below.
