When a new game comes out there are often brand tie-ins to get maximum exposure, and more often than not works out well for both parties. This is just what we suspect will happen with the new Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat, which is a nod to the many vehicles that feature in Halo 5 guardians.
These Halo 5 Guardians vehicles need to have a rugged military look, and the Sandcat certainly has that. There is one issue though, and that is the fact this is to be a one-off. Ok, so we know vehicles based on games are an acquired taste, but this F150 that has undergone a transformation is very understated — so no over-the-top weaponry.
This particular model is based on the 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4×4, and comes with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and to give it a more robust feel is the FX4 off-road package.
However, Ford felt that was not enough, and so added the Addictive Desert Designs Baja XTR package, as well as FOX Racing shocks, Deaver leaf springs and the very robust Currie floating rear axle and 17-inch wheels. To help handle the battering the United Nations Space Command will give the Sandcat, the fenders, side steps and chase rack have also been upgraded.
Ford decided not to go for a paint job, and chose a Halo-themed body wrap instead. The truck will be on show during E3 2015, so car and game fans are sure to love it. I can truly see some people actually ordering this model because of its modest design.
