Firefox 29 lost bookmark problems after upgrade

A couple of days ago I upgraded to Firefox 29 and soon after I regretted doing so. The reason for this regret is because the moment the browser reopened there was a big change, and that was the fact that all my bookmarks and history had gone. I thought it was just a glitch and shut everything down and restarted my iMac and opened the software, but my bookmarks were still missing.

The Firefox 29 lost bookmark is not the only issue because there are several other problems after the upgrade, which I’ll get to soon. The missing bookmarks is not a widespread issue because I also updated to Firefox version 29 on my MacBook Air and all the bookmarks are still there.

Things like this have happened to some of you in the past, and so I know that Firefox creates backups of your bookmarks, and so I assumed it would be an easy fix by restoring Firefox from an old backup. However, there were no backups, so I was left with no choice but to start again because the bookmarks I use on Safari are different to those on Firefox, and they also differ from my Firefox bookmarks on my MacBook Air.

If you have had such an issue before on a Windows system, then all you would do is restore your computer to an earlier date and your bookmarks should be back, but this cannot be done with Mac, and so I have had to redo all of my bookmarks again. While this is not much of an issue, as it is good to have a cleanup now and again, remembering the passwords is a bit of an issue. That’s right, all of the passwords would have been removed as well.

Other Firefox 29 problems — When a session is restored, tabs are brought up that had been closed long before Firefox crashed. When memory usage exceed 1GB strange things begin to happen, such as web page graphics not displaying correctly, and there have even been reports of random crashes.

I’d be interested to know if you have experienced any of these issues, and more so if you have suffered from the missing bookmarks as I have?
