Final Fantasy XIV: Best Graphics from Square-Enix Ever?

It is fair to say that Square-Enix are one of the big boys when it comes to pushing the graphical capabilities of hardware they use for each title they release. We’ve just taken a look at their new CG trailer for Final Fantasy XIV, and I’m pretty sure the graphics are the best I’ve ever seen from the company.

Firstly, if you haven’t seen the trailer in question, you can check it out below. It is a 7 minute epic introduction to the world of Final Fantasy XIV, and is due to be shown to the watching audience at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

Final Fantasy XIII was pretty special from a graphical point of view, but Square-Enix has really gone an extra mile here with this trailer for FFXIV. I know there are a lot of you who prefer to see more content than CG nowadays, but I’m still a fan of cutscenes, even if Square-Enix tend to include them more than others.

To get an idea of what we’re talking about, check out the Malboro battle during the trailer, you’ll find it at 2 minutes onwards. Pay special attention to the water effects when the human character takes his head out from the water – pretty stunning you have to agree.

Square-Enix has almost managed to create human-like visuals, I mean sometimes I had to check that this was still a trailer I was watching. I don’t why, but it also reminded me of the Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within movie.

Check out the video below and let us know your thoughts on it. Can you honestly say you’ve seen better from Square-Enix? – because I haven’t.
