Final Fantasy X-3 tease on PS4, PS Vita

Just when you thought we had seen the last of another Final Fantasy X sequel, it looks like Square-Enix are again keen to prolong their series extension tactics. Now, whispers are emerging that a Final Fantasy X-3 release on PS4 and PS Vita could be a real possibility in the future.

As most of you know, Final Fantasy X is back in the headlines with the upcoming release of the Final Fantasy X HD and X-2 HD remasters for PS3 and PS Vita. The last game in the series featured an all-female cast, with many fans expecting this to be the last game we see in the FFX series.

However, one member of Square-Enix’s writing team has caused chaos, by saying that he would personally like to see a Final Fantasy X-3 game made, if there is demand for it from the fans. That person is Kazushige Nojima and he has been quoted as saying in Japan that developments “will happen” if there is demand for it.

What an exciting prospect that would be though, if you think about it. Although some may not want to keep seeing Square-Enix revisit old ground, the scenarios for a third game would be interesting.

For example, imagine having a game where we would this time focus on the journey of Tidus after the events of Final Fantasy X. It could feature Wakka and Auron too, as well as some environments and summons that appeared in the original game.

We certainly wouldn’t blame Square-Enix if they decide to revisit one of the best Final Fantasy games in the entire series. It needs to have a major shake up of mechanics though to entice users into a purchase we feel.

What is your reaction to this – Would you support a Final Fantasy X-3 game or not?
