Final Fantasy: The next game will be more open, HD towns possible – Square-Enix

Are you diappointed with the way Final Fantasy XIII turned out in the end? If so, we have some pretty exciting news for you now, as Director Motomu Toriyama has been talking in detail about what we can expect to see in the next Final Fantasy game.

As reported from VG247, it looks as if he is clearly aware that some of the fans are not too happy with FFXIII’s linear approach to the game, as he wasted no time in telling us what is possible in the next game.

While he started off with that familiar, ‘It is very difficult to translate full towns into today’s consoles’ talk, he did say this:

“Now that we have that base technology… The next time you see a Final Fantasy, we might be able to pack in more of those elements that existed in the past.”

What do you think about that? You’ll can read more quotes from him over at VG247. Don’t forget that the man himself is due to give a speech at GDC tonight – we are looking forward to that indeed.
