Square Enix’s ever-growing, popular classic Final Fantasy have confirmed another game coming to the fore. The new game has been announced and confirmed to be released on the Nintendo 3DS. However the new title has not conformed to the more traditional style of Final Fantasy games that we are used to seeing. What do Square Enix have in store this time?
Theatrhythm is the name of the new game and the idea is not one of the classic RPG that we are so used to. Instead this game is a rhythm game. The game will be an interesting insight to Square’s new take on the series which has said to involve tapping the screen at the correct time in order to succeed in battles.
The game will include music and scaled-down versions of some of the classic characters from the series, but how they will be incorporated and used in the game? We are not sure yet. We are also anticipating some gameplay footage to confirm various suspicions about the game.
When we hear of rhythm games nowadays we may be subjected to think of games such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band style titles, however this looks to be untrue of this game. Instead, we anticipate a game much more similar to the functionality of Cooking Mama or other titles that require not only the keeping of rhythm but also different gestures to be performed on the touch screen in time with a beat.
The news was gathered from Jump, a Japanese magazine which appears to be very brief in its description of the new game as there are no in-depth accounts found as yet in any news article. We can confirm that Andriasang have said that there does seem to be a story to the game whereby the Final Fantasy characters are fighting to return light back to the crystal. This was apparently reported in the same Jump magazine also.
So for now we will continue to wait for more info to follow on from the reports of the release, however as there is no official release date so far, we only have enough knowledge to confirm a release coming soon. How soon this release will be however is anyone’s guess. We will continue to search for more information but for now, tell us what you think of the game and what it means for the series.
