We now have confirmation that the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be released in several parts, or episodes with Square-Enix revealing this bombshell only by press release.
We are scratching our heads as to why this wasn’t revealed at E3 or the PlayStation Experience recently, but perhaps this is due to the reaction that would likely follow.
A Square-Enix press release reveals the following about the game:
“FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.”
Square-Enix has said that the game is simply too big to include content all in one go, a statement which is somewhat understandable given how big the original is, then thinking that Square-Enix has to remake every single scene to match today’s standards.
Having said that, it does now pose a huge talking point on what the release schedule is going to be for these episodes and more importantly, how much will the Final Fantasy 7 Remake episodes cost.
One thing that you do need to bear in mind, is an additional clarification by Square-Enix which states that “each entry will have the volume of content equal to a full-sized game.”
That is very important to consider in the grand context of things and hopefully it should ease some of the fears that we are seeing right now online with message boards blowing up about this revelation.
It does pose the question on whether fans will need to pay the full price of $60 for Episode 1, then another $60 for Episode 2 and so on if they are the size of full games.
Will Square-Enix still press ahead with the inevitable Season Pass for Final Fantasy 7 Remake offering a cut price for all Episodes included?
Details are obviously slim at the moment, so we encourage you to keep an open mind. Discuss your thoughts on the decision to split the game up into multiple parts and let us know if you still plan to jump in with open arms.
