It was only last week that we reported on the dominance of FIFA 14 in the UK video game charts, but what a difference one week makes. If figures are correct, then EA’s football game has seen its dominance halted by Lara Croft.
The latest figures are now in and Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition now takes the number one spot, with FIFA 14 in number two. One of the biggest reasons for the latest version of Tomb Raider to do so well in the charts is thanks to its release on the PS4 and Xbox One.
We’d love to see a breakdown of those sales numbers to see how well the game did on each console, especially as the PlayStation 4 version was said to be of a much better quality in terms of FPS.
According to the latest top ten chart FIFA 14 saw a sales drop of just 4 percent, which was just enough to see Lara Croft take the top spot. FIFA 14 only lost 500 copies in sales, which shows just how close it was between the two titles,
The rest of the top 10 chart is pretty much unchanged, although Call of Duty Ghosts fell to number 3 and Battlefield 4 a place lower.
Whether Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will be able to hold onto the top spot for two weeks in a row is anyone’s guess, as we have seen FIFA 14 climb up before and it could happen again. The problem is, there are currently no big releases planned over the next week or two, and so it is pretty much a game of cat and mouse out of the current titles occupying the charts.
