With the release of FIFA 14 just a day away for the American market — silly because the sport being more popular in Europe — we find it strange that when we go onto the official website for the game only FIFA 13 is being promoted on mobile devices.
You might wonder why EA would want to promote the FIFA 14 Android, iPhone and iPad release when the console version of the game is not even released, and so neither would the mobile version. However, you would be wrong in that assumption because FIFA 14 is available for download now on the Google Play Store for Android smartphones and tablets, and has been since Saturday.
FIFA 14 for iOS is also available for download, but it is not as straightforward as that, this is because the app is only available on iTunes New Zealand. We have looked at iTunes for other countries, such as the US, UK etc., but NZ is the only one for the moment.
Release confusion for FIFA 14 on mobile devices — You can understand why we are a little confused by this, because why would EA Sports not be promoting the mobile version on their website, and how come you cannot download FIFA 14 iOS version outside New Zealand? We could understand if the NZ version was released today and we are just waiting because of the time difference, but this has been available since yesterday, and so all countries should have the app by now.
In the build-up to the FIFA 14 mobile release we saw a preview of these mobile apps, but it was the teasing of abilities in the FIFA 14 demo download that whet our appetites the most. It is all well and good playing the new sports game on your smartphone and tablet, but it will never be able to recreates the excitement of the console version.
