While the console versions of FIFA 13 will be EA’s bread and butter this year and into the next, mobile versions of FIFA still remain highly popular with consumers. You may not have been too impressed with last year’s offering on mobile, but we’re pleased to say that EA are planning to bridge the quality gap between console and mobile with the portable version of FIFA 13.
One of the main gripes about FIFA 12 on mobile last year, was that it wasn’t exactly straight forward to play as you’ll know control schemes on touchscreen devices can be a pretty frustrating experience. This year, EA are attempting to make things a lot easier by reworking the control system and adding a lot more little features that you’d usually find on console.
For example, when dribbling with the ball you will now have a dedicated skill button which should make it more easier to beat players, than double tapping for skill like you had to in FIFA 12. There’s also going to be the option to call in a second defender, with another dedicated defending button as you’ll see in the screenshot below.
The graphics have once again been updated, but like console versions it is always going to be about the gameplay. Aside from the reworked control scheme, EA are also putting some longevity in the game by adding support for online multiplayer, with the ability to connect to EA Sports Football Club as well.
The licensing is going to be more or less on par with console versions too, as there are 33 official stadiums, 15,000 licensed players, 30 different leagues and over 500 different teams to choose from – pretty amazing for a mobile game you have to say.
As a further social delight for fans who can’t resist a quick game of FIFA 13 on the go, EA are also allowing players to direct upload replays to YouTube, allowing you to share your portable wonder goals in an instant. There’s no release date, but it’s out in September sometime along with console versions.
