Ferrari LaFerrari testing F1 2014 engine

One of the best things about the Ferrari LaFerrari is its engine configuration because it uses a conventional engine, as well as electrical energy harvested from the car. This not only makes the vehicle more fuel-efficient but also gives it more torque.

Imagine our shock when we spotted the video below of a Ferrari LaFerrari testing F1 2014 engine. Gone is the V12 6.3-liter engine and in its place is a 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 engine from next years Ferrari Formula One car – or so we presume.

It is not known for certain if this is the same V6 engine for F1 next year, but why else would they be testing it. And it does make sense because this is a perfect way to help develop the engine for next year’s Ferrari F1 car.

Ferrari will be able to gather valuable data as to the reliability of the car, although they won’t be able to get exact data considering an F1 car is far lighter, and so puts the engine under far greater stresses.

We are still not convinced about the V6 turbo charged engine because they sound too high-pitched and could become unbearable after a while. It was horrible to lose the V10, and now seeing the 2.4-liter V8 go is a crying shame.
