FCC’s iPhone and Android App: Consumer Broadband Test

As most people have no idea how fast their broadband connection speed is, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched a site to help you work out if your broadband speed is as quick as your Internet Service Provider (ISP) claims. Broadband.gov will allow you to test your broadband connection for free.

There are two options for you to test your broadband. You can either log on to FCC’s site and enter your address, or FCC is offering an app that will test your iPhone and Android phones connection. The FCC is hoping to change the policy that will then force internet providers to regulate coverage areas and speeds.

You can download the app from the respective app stores, and even if you’re in a broadband “Dead Zone” the FCC would like you to fill out the report on its site or call: 888-CALL-FCC.

How many people are going to get straight on to this to find out if our ISPs are delivering what they say they are? Give us your comments.
