Fallout 4 announcement prolonged

Bethesda seem very reluctant to actually come out and admit that they are working on Fallout 4 and that they already have a release date in mind. It seems strange to us why the developer is prolonging any sort of announcement, and the latest development has baffled us even more.

In a recent interview Bethesda’s Todd Howard was asked the most obvious question, and that was the existence of Fallout 4, in which he answered that they do not have any kind of timeframe as to when they will announce their next game, although he did say it wouldn’t be for a while.

This tells us two things; one is that this will only fuel the rumors that Bethesda might not be the developer for Fallout 4 seeing as though Howard never mentioned the name of the aforementioned game. And secondly, if they were developing Fallout 4, then its announcement will not come for a long time.

However, Todd did say that they already have several ideas for the next game, but are figuring out which of them will work. Bethesda’s game director is not silly because he knows a great deal of curiosity surrounds Fallout 4 and there are a lot of questions to be answered, but he is not going to be forced into showing Bethesda’s hand just yet — it is as if he is a politician.

We could be looking at this all wrong though, as there is a possibility that Bethesda could be working on a new IP instead. While it would be nice to see what Fallout 4 would offer on the PS4 and Xbox One, maybe a clean sheet would be the better option?

If you had the option would you welcome a new Fallout title, or would Bethesda be better to bring out a completely new game for next-gen consoles?
