Facebook’s worldwide Slingshot download expected today

Last week saw Facebook launch its new Slingshot app, only to be removed shortly after, as its release was a bit premature. However, if all goes to plan, then Facebook’s Slingshot could go live today, meaning you will be able to download it to your iOS device.

Slingshot is the new competitor to Snapshat, which Facebook has high hopes for, although we heard that a couple of years back with the Poke app. We should give Slingshot the benefit of the doubt, as we never thought Google would come up with a decent social sharing service after many failed attempts, but now look at Google+.

Slingshot is developed just for the iPhone, which as we know is the single most used digital camera out there. The user can take images or videos using the iPhone or even drawings and send them to another person. However, the recipient will not be able to view what has been sent unless they accept they wish to view the message.

Facebook’s worldwide Slingshot app download will be free for iPhone users, although not much else is known about this app. Let us hope the app is made available to download later, although 9to5 Mac says that if Facebook runs into last minute issues, then they could delay it a little longer.
