Facebook Shuts Down Osama Bin Laden

Social network site Facebook has shut a site down with the name Osama bin Laden, which had managed to gain the attention of 1,000 fans. On the page were a number of speeches along with Islamic extremists recordings, which basically say that the U.S will never catch the terrorist leader.

The Facebook page that was shut down on Friday was set up on Match 25, and had a location as “mountains of the world,” if only he could be more detailed. It is not certain if the page was set up by anyone close to Bin Laden or just by a supporter, but ABC News spoke to Facebook who believes that it would not have been someone linked directly by the most wanted man by the U.S.

We are not certain Facebook will shut down any other pages like this, we know that there is a page for the Taliban. We have to assume that this is not a real page as it only has 31 followers.

Facebook should begin to vet new users to their site, it is a crime to spread hate and try to promote terrorism, closing down the Osama Bin Laden page is certainly a step in the right direction.
