Facebook Place Feature like Foursquare and Gowalla

On Friday, Facebook announced a new way in which users can add their locations on the social networking sites pages, there is not much details to go on — but it is assumed that this place features will be much like the one used by Foursquare and Gowalla.

The two sites mentioned above offer mobile apps that are like a real-life game — members visit restaurants and bars and then share their locations with other users. When a member enters a certain spot, other users are then notified that they are there.

Adding these locations as well as status messages on to Foursquare and Gowalla is fast becoming a popular way forward in social networking — one that will be taken up by other services, such as Facebook.

Facebook announced that they will offer a similar service, but with so little details to go on, it is all guess work. Visit CNN News to understand a little more on this story.
