While Facebook is currently the biggest social networking site, it is under more pressure from its rivals Twitter and Google+. It has far more users at the moment but there is a growing number of users getting bored of the site and not using it as much. Now a survey has found that Facebook’s constant security changes are confusing some users.
Facebook has been criticized in the past for its level of security and is trying to keep on top of any problems, but a study has found that almost half of the 30 million users in the UK can’t keep up with the constant changes.
The Telegraph are reporting that a study by Which? has found that 48 percent of the people asked agreed with the statement “I can’t keep up with the number of changes Facebook has made to its data security settings“. In the one and half years the site has made at least 9 major changes to privacy settings.
Nineteen percent of those asked stated that they have never changed their Facebook privacy settings. Others make changes less frequently than Facebook make improvements or changes. Back in September Mark Zuckerberg announced some big changes to the website, which are designed to encourage users to post more information.
This is when it revealed new privacy controls that are meant to give users total control on who can see that information. The study did find that around sixty percent agreed with the idea that Facebook is giving users more control over their information that is posted.
Have you made many changes to your privacy controls on Facebook?
