Facebook helps Philippines Murder Suspect: Social Media Fights Crime

Some good news to report now, as it has been confirmed that police managed to track down a suspect charged with robbery and murder, with the help of social-networking website Facebook.

As reported from SeattlePI, the suspect has been named as Mark Dizon, a 28-year-old computer technician who was a regular user of Facebook – according to his friends.

Police also revealed that Dizon was friends with one of the victim’s daughters on Facebook. One of her friends showed a Facebook picture of Dizon to the police, and it was that picture that helped to secure his capture.

Dizon has now admitted the charges brought against him and is waiting to be sentenced. Facebook isn’t only for meeting friends it seems – let us know your thoughts on this.
