We have some bad news for those of you who were hoping to see a F1 2014 PS4 and Xbox One release date. We can confirm that it won’t be happening as developers Codemasters have revealed that the game is only set for release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
However, it’s not the end of the world. While you won’t be able to play F1 2014 on next-gen this October, you will however be able to play F1 2015 on PS4 and Xbox One as Codemasters has confirmed that they are working on it as we speak.
Even better, is that the game will feature ‘live digital updates’, which could operate in a similar way in which EA sports regularly update their FIFA games in line with real-life events.
Here is the official word on the status of F1 for PS4 and Xbox One:
“Now onto new-gen. 2015 will see us release our first title on new-generation platforms. The game will launch earlier in the Formula One season and then go onto receive live digital updates. These updates will deliver 2015 content into the game as the season unfolds, ensuring you’ll be competing against the same drivers and teams you watch week in and week out! The game will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.”
So in simpler terms, F1 2014 is going to be for previous-gen and PC. If you want the first F1 experience on next-gen you’ll have to wait until 2015 to get it.
F1 2014 is releasing on October 17. We’ve included the new F1 2014 trailer below, watch it and let us know what you think about this decision. Are you disappointed that it isn’t on PS4 and Xbox One this year, or excited as it means a better unique game for next-gen, next year?
