Exclusive Verizon Galaxy Nexus, AT&T and Sprint jealousy

If you were previously clinging on to the hope that the highly anticipated Galaxy Nexus handset would be arriving on another US carrier aside from Verizon, it looks like those hopes are going to be dashed unfortunately.

Verizon has just gone live with sign-up pages for Google and Samsung’s new toy and there for every to see on Verizon’s website is the words ‘exclusively from Verizon’ – probably the final nail in the coffin as far as Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile users are concerned.

Considering that neither Google or Samsung mentioned anything at the Galaxy Nexus unveil event in Hong Kong, it gave real hope to consumers that the device would at least be featured on another carrier, such as AT&T for example, especially since the device comes with LTE and HSPA+ support.

It doesn’t rule it out forever of course, but for now Verizon is the only place you’ll be able to get your hands on the shiny Galaxy Nexus. The iPhone 4S now will serve as comfort material for AT&T and Sprint users, but Verizon seems to be running the show at the moment with good reason.

Big Red also has the very impressive Motorola Droid RAZR on the way as another Verizon exclusive, and both handsets are easily the two most desired Android handsets on the planet at the moment.

If you are a Sprint, AT&T or even T-Mobile customer reading this, do you feel it is now time to seriously consider your future options in terms of deciding whether to upgrade your current contract or drop everything and move to Verizon since they have all the new swag? Current Verizon customers will be basking in a moment of self indulgence of course, knowing that they have a decision to weigh up between the Galaxy Nexus or Droid RAZR – with both handsets obviously the cream of the crop right now.

Are you surprised that the Galaxy Nexus is exclusive to Verizon now after the somewhat silent carrier talk after the big unveil?

The phrase “Exclusively from Verizon” has been removed.  It probably was a simple error.

And to further muddle things, from South Korea: The Galaxy S2 HD LTE, the Galaxy S2 LTE’s sibling, is waiting to launch sometime in November, although the exact launch date has not yet been announced. Just like the Galaxy S2 LTE, every specification is the same except its size and weight. The smartphone has a 4.65-inch HD super AMOLED display with 1280×720 resolution compared to 800×480 in Galaxy S2 LTE. The thickness is the same at 9.5 mm weighing 140 grams. Galaxy S2 LTE will be provided by only SKT and Galaxy S2 HD (LTE) will be supported by three… Read more »

The SCH-i515 is probably a Verizon exclusive. Though this would leave out Sprint. But maybe there will be a 3rd model number for sprint, but since the model number is different for other carriers they can claim exclusively on this particular model.

Note, the Optimus is not presently running Ice Cream, but like the Razr, it will likely soon have that update as well.

Of course now I have to wonder if LG will make their Optimus LTE available soon to the US.  Based on reports, it carries more of the specs that many of us ‘Nexus Prime’ tailgaters had hoped for. 4.5 inch 720P display @ 329ppi (better than Iphone 4S) and more color accurate than the Galaxy Nexus according to independent tests.  1.5ghz processor.  Contains a slot for memory card. processor supported by 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal storage with expansion via Micro-SD media and a 1,830 mAh battery. There’s an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash at the rear and a 1.3… Read more »

Holy exclusive deal. The only hope left (for GSM users) is for the phone to be an “international” phone and for an unlock to be discovered soon.
