Ex dustman’s iPhone 5 experiment going swimmingly

A few months ago we told you of Rob Shoesmith’s plan to wait outside one of Apple’s stores in readiness for the iPhone 5 release. The idea is to camp outside Apple’s Convent Garden store in London and survive on goodies that have been donated by various companies. In an update we can tell you that the ex dustman’s iPhone 5 experiment is going swimmingly.

Shoesmith used to empty the trash cans before he designed his own iPhone application, and started work for MEDL Mobile. Shoesmith who is a friend of Product Reviews has been receiving a variety of different products from companies to help him along his way. He has received items such as ear plugs and tissues, to services such as free use of a gyms shower in the area.

The companies are getting some free publicity by sending Shoesmith goods, as he then writes about what he has received on his blog with the products shown in images. The donated goods so far exceed the value of £15,000 with other 150 different companies offering services or goods.

He even now has his own PA after a company offered their services for sixteen hours when he is actually camping outside the Apple Store. There has been some that have donated money to put in an emergency pot if products run short.

There is likely to be many Apple fans queuing up outside Apple Stores around the world when the iPhone gets a release date. We recently had the news that an Apple press event could be taking place on October 4th, so it may not be much longer before Rob Shoesmith takes to his tent. You can keep up to date with Rob Shoesmith’s experiment here.

Will you be queuing up for the iPhone 5?
