ESPN Sports Bar & Grill: New social game launched on Facebook

Social gaming appears to be extremely popular among Facebook users these days, and the list of available games just keeps growing longer and longer. If popular games such as FarmVille, Mafia Wars and FrontierVille don’t quite appeal to you however, you might be interested in learning more about ESPN’s new social networking game.

The game in question is called ESPN Sports Bar & Grill, which as noted by Mariel Loveland over at scribbal.com gives users the opportunity to manage their very own sports bar. Players will literally be able to control everything from the on-demand and simulated games that are played on the TVs, to the sporting paraphernalia that decorates the walls of the bar.

An interesting feature of the ESPN Sports Bar & Grill game is the ability to receive real-time sports news and updates whilst you’re playing, so you won’t have to miss out on the action from your favorite teams. The game is presented by Samsung, which of course means that their products will be present throughout the game.

For example, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is included in the rewards that players can win for their bar for completing specific challenges. Other rewards include bar stools, posters, arcade games and even flat screen TVs. ESPN Sports Bar & Grill players will be faced with all the same challenges that real bar owners have to face in the real world.

Not only will players be tasked with keeping customers happy and generating revenue, they will also have to maintain the look and the stock of their bar. Once players start earning cash, they can buy new chairs, bigger TVs, nicer walls and more sporting paraphernalia. For users that are under the age of 21, the bar will only serve non-alcoholic beverages and food.

One of the best features of the ESPN Sports Bar & Grill game is the fact that players can listen to ESPN radio while they play to get live updates. They will also have the ability to play new games or replay older games that aired on ESPN on their bar’s television. Because the game is social, players can team up with friends in order to win rewards.

ESPN Sports Bar & Grill also comes with a Game Predictor ‘pick-em’ game integrated into it, which enables players to make real life sporting predictions with their friends. The more predictions that you and your friends get correct, the more rewards you can win for your bar. This isn’t the first time that ESPN has ventured into social gaming either.

According to Jennifer Van Grove over at mashable.com, their first release, ESPNU College Town, launched back in September last year. The ESPNU College Town game now has over 582,000 active monthly users, with 60,000 people playing it every day. Do you like the sound of the ESPN Sports Bar & Grill game?
