Following on from our previous updates on the egg recall in the US, we can now confirm that the recall has expanded, after more brands were linked to an outbreak of Salmonella – leaving hundreds of people unwell in the country.
As reported from the NYTimes, the number of eggs recalled has now risen to 380 million. As we previously told you, these are divided between a variety of egg suppliers, some of which include Mountain Dairy, Dutch Farms and Pacific Coast.
The culprit behind the voluntary recall is Wright County Egg, who reside in Iowa. New York Times reports that the owner of this company is constantly used to health and safety visits by regulators, they even have a history of poor or unsafe working conditions.
It is obvious that this is a huge problem, one which is unlikely to go away for a while. For those who have contracted salmonella as a result of consuming the eggs, what are your thoughts on the whole story?
