Easing Canon T6s (760D) and T6i (750D) recall fears

Consumers have been seeing reports that some Canon T6s (760D) and T6i (750D) cameras have had issues with their lenses, and so are fearful that theirs could to, leading to a possible recall. However, from what we can make out, the only models that have had these issues were those rented out by a camera hire company.

The problem — According to, 4 models of its Canon T6s and 2 of its T6i cameras arrived with a defect on their sensors, and so had to be returned to Canon. From what we can make out there have been no other reports from consumers, and so we can only assume this to be an isolated issue.

Canon T6s and T6i recall fears

Going back to that defect; the layers of filter glass over the sensor had a strange pattern appear on them, which you can see in the image above, and more here. The company assume that it was just dust or oil, but that turned out not to be the case.

Upon further inspection it would seem this not to be the case, because the tech team were unable to clean any of it off. The upshot of this is, the images being produced all have these strange marks, and so not what you would expect from Canon.

Canon is now looking into this issue and also seeing if this could be an issue for other models, and so for now you should not worry. However, there is a high probability that there could be a bad batch of T6s and T6i cameras, and so we wait to see what the outcome is.
