Earth Day 2010: Activities and Events

Today is April 22, 2010 and is the 40th Earth Day, which you can tell by the latest Google Doodle. It has been estimated that 1.5 billion people from all race, religion and gender will come together for this worthwhile cause, and get involved in a number of activities and events.

Some of these events have been taking place all week, and will continue until the end of the week. You do not have to be a so-called treehugger to want to do your little bit for this fragile planet, the smallest thing you do all helps towards the bigger picture — awareness.

Earth Day 2010 activities and events are taking place across the globe, but let us take a look and some of those across the U.S.

New Haven, Connecticut has a fun Family Camping event from April 22-April 23rd. While there you will gather around a campfire while roasting marshmallows and talk about the different things that each of you can do to help save the planet.

Miami, Florida: Miami Going Green: This event is packed with fun and even shows you how to run a Nintendo Wii on solar power.

Denver, Colorado has an event called Earth Day at Red Rocks: There will be music as well as a clean-up event.

New Orleans, Louisiana is also getting into the Earth Day spirit; they will be offering some jazz and Latin music to get the fun started. Environmental groups will also be on hand to spread the word about what needs to be done to save Mother Earth. New Orleans knows all about the power of Mother Nature and the damage that can be caused, so it is nice to see that they still want to do what they can.

There are so many more events going on in the U.S., visit for more details. For details on worldwide events, visit
