E-readers at CES 2010: Upcoming eBook Launches

CES 2010 is now behind us and there are many things that we can look forward to in the coming year. We know that Tablet PC devices and 3DTV’s will be big this year, but there are a host of new E-readers coming up as they have now been made popular by Amazon’s Kindle eBook reader.

The Money Times thought that they would look at four of the hottest E-readers to come from this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, these are Copia, Bookeen, Hanvon, and Jetbook. Their latest devices should prove popular when launched as they had big crowds at the show.

The first of the eBook readers to try and take the fight to the Kindle is the Plastic Logic Que e-reader. This device is aimed at the business user, which is reflected in its price, between $649 to $799. As this features plastic, it will not shatter like a glass version can. (Specs and release date)

The Hearst Corp. Skiff e-reader will be launched along with a store for offering digital newspaper and magazines subscriptions. The device itself has an 11.5-inch screen with the casing made from flexible metal.

The Spring Design’s e-reader Alex has a black-and-white screen and a 3.5-inch color screen. The larger screen is for reading while the smaller color screen is used for browsing the Internet.

The final device is the Entourage System edge E-reader; it comes with two screens that can fold up just like a book, one color the other black-and-white. The price for this will be $490.

Do you think any of these devices will be able to compete with the Amazon Kindle?
