Droid Incredible HD: Possible Verizon release date, HTC Vigor canned

We have some exciting news for those of you who have been keeping an eye on updates regarding the elusive HTC Vigor smartphone. We have a potential release date to share with you and speculation that it may end up being rebranded as the Droid Incredible HD.

The Incredible brand has been lying low since the release of the Droid Incredible 2 on Verizon earlier on this Summer but now we have news of a potential release for the ‘HD’ version of that handset, also thought to be the HTC Vigor according to some details obtained by Droid-Life.

According to a document they were sent via email, the HTC Droid Incredible HD will be launching on October 13th, dubbed as the ‘world’s first HD smartphone’ – sounds a bit dubious though doesn’t it? Specs included match up with previous spec details for the Vigor, which include a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and a 4.3-inch display screen.

You’ll also get now-standard features such as an 8 megapixel camera, a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, 1080p HD video recording and the latest version of Android Gingerbread – 2.3.4. Interestingly, the document also reveals that buyers will get a beats branded set of earbuds included in the box as well which is obviously fantastic if it turns out to be true.

Could we really be one month away from the arrival of the next 4G LTE device on Verizon after the Droid Bionic? We really want to believe it’s true, but this information just doesnt look that convincing so we’re going to have to wait for more gossip on the Incredible HD / Vigor before we make our minds up on it.

What are your thoughts on this story – first of all, would you welcome the brand change to the Droid Incredible HD or would you actually prefer HTC to release it as the Vigor? Make a note of that October 13th date anyway until we get more intel.
