Droid Bionic Dual-Core vs. HTC Thunderbolt With 2GHz Overclock

Since it was released last month the HTC Thunderbolt is probably the top Android handset available on Verizon. But the Motorola Droid Bionic will give the HTC handset a run for its money when it becomes available.

Both handsets have similar sizes screens, and 4G LTE capability, but the Bionic has a dual-core 1GHz chip, whereas the Thunderbolt is single core. Christopher Hudson of GizmoCrunch has written an article asking which device Verizon Wireless customers should get.

The HTC Thunderbolt is available now but the Motorola Droid Bionic should not be too far away. We recently told you about the Thunderbolt getting overclocked to 1.8 GHz; this has now been beaten by a new 2.016GHz kernel by the same person, Derek Rodriguez.

Via his Twitter page he says the Thunderbolt remains stable despite the 2GHz CPU speed, and he is working on ways to improve it even further. You will need to root your HTC handset to use this kernel when it is released. But it is better than waiting to find out when the Droid Bionic will get an official release date.

Of course the Thunderbolt running at 2GHz is still not as good as the dual-core Motorola Droid Bionic, but if you want a new handset now it is not a bad buy. If it still not good enough for you it will just be a case of sitting tight until the Bionic comes to the market.

Are you waiting for the Motorola Droid Bionic?
