DriveClub PS Plus compensation say fans

We had secretly hoped that DriveClub PS Plus Edition would make it in time for the November PS Plus update, but now we can definitely confirm that it won’t be happening. Even worse, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida has now stepped in to say that the game is ‘on hold’, as Evolution continue to work through the launch problems which plagued the main release a few weeks ago.

Those of you who were thinking that Evolution had finally fixed their server problems have been dealt another hammer blow this week. It gives you an idea how bad the problems are when Shuhei Yoshida has to step in, as he’s released a lengthy statement on how DriveClub PS Plus won’t be out anytime soon.

The message has been posted on the Driveclub Facebook page here, while the key information to take out of the statement is as follows below:

“With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice.”

Given that there is still no release date attached to the game, many gamers are very frustrated with what’s happened and have asked Sony repeatedly for a compensation package to make up for it.

You’ll know that Sony has given out compensation in the past for prolonged PSN downtime and now gamers are demanding a similar move to make up for the fact that DriveClub’s problems are still not fixed since launch.

DriveClub would have been a great addition on PS Plus next month, after the confirmation of Steamworld Dig and Binding of Isaac joining the IGC – another two indie games.

Do you think the odds are high though of Sony giving out some compensation – if so, what kind of compensation would you think is reasonable for all parties concerned?
