3 (Three) Mobile UK signal problems

Three (3) Mobile UK will experience problems with no signal on tablets and phones on occasion, which won’t always be due to black spots. Services include voicemail, mobile internet, and SMS with the network going down either nationwide or in isolated areas.

Users report the most common Three Mobile problems include no signal in local towns, operating system issues, or data not working when connecting to the internet.

    We’re experiencing such an erratic internet, that we’re strongly thinking of leaving Three. I’ve been trying to reach them, but go round and round in circles and can’t speak to anyone, not even online. I’m furious.

    Been with 3 for about 12 years – generally they’ve been ok on phones though their upgrade for customers falls below that offered by other networks – and when they removed the all-you-can-eat data contracts a few years ago they became less and less competitive. We eventually decided to stay because the other networks aren’t as strong on signal where we are.

    About 9 months back we moved to mobile broadband with them and its been a disaster – wish I’d read better reviews from the thousands that agree with this observation. The Huawei modems they plod out for the broadband are simply just incapable. The three phones we have in the house – all Samsung of different ages all deliver reasonable 4G connectivity – the Huawei router barely holds a signal steady for more than 10-15 seconds on 4G – is slightly more stable on 3G – but who wants that when you are paying for 4G Mebabit access. In practice over the 9 month period the device averages 35-150Kb – which is less than I got with the first generation of ISDN, or broadband. The shops WILL NOT deal with you on technical matters and merely trawl out utter nonsense about the different strengths of different mobile platform connections – first set of excuses you get when you employ Google. The technical support is operating out of India, does not listen to the issue, steps through some kind of imaginary monkey sheet set of questions none of which relate to the issue and merely confirm that you are not dealing with a skilled technically savvy operative – and then bung you on hold for anywhere up to an hour (this was pre-Covid) to hit someone you’ve supposedly escalated to who then starts the whole sad process off again. Typical excuses THEY trawl back to you will ALWAYS start with ‘we are experiencing outages as we upgrade the 5g in your area’ (There is no 5g in the area and its not scheduled for the foreseeable) – ‘ have you turned the device off and on again’ – (Constantly to stop it dropping its underwear and heading for the sea-floor) – and so on – at the end of this preamble – back to another 1 – 2 hour wait in a call queue – twice I’ve had that one cut me off.

    The shops will not refund unless they have some kind of technical say from the engineers – but will not go there to do it for you – no manager short cut line for them either.

    SO effectively you are left with writing to the Ombudsman – that’s my next call.

    All in all – it was a fine service – now its a cash cow with a truly atrocious customer support environment.

    I’ve been having nothing but problems with outages and signal dropping down on homefi and on phone….these days i can’t even get a signal on my phone in my living room anymore where the signal was a full 5 bars now it can’t find a network unless i go near my window in the bedroom and i get 3 bars at most….they are so concerned about the 5g that their customers on 4g don’t matter…you would think they would at least get the 4g network and phone signals fixed before anything else…but no they don’t give a damn as long as the money is comming in…..try and get a refund it’s like getting blood out of a stone….they don’t admit they have problems and blame everything on faulty sims or faulty equipment you own…. wakefield used to have good signal…..total garbage these days…do not go with 3uk, you’ll regret it!

    Edinburgh – Yip – not long got 3 mobile internet with modem and its hopeless; sometimes get some decent speed, but drops to zero in the evening. And I am up a hill!

    4G issues with Three in Falmouth, Cornwall. Either not connecting at all or getting less than 1mbps download speed. (usually get around 30mbps)

    So31 Southampton. Effectively no coverage here or in SO45 since Wednesday, apart from a couple of minutes. Modem keeps showing “disconnected”. Tried two different ones. Site won’t recognise sim no to log in.

    Smarty (Three) 4G network has been having issues with extremely long
    page loads (1 minute plus) and some other services simply not working
    (i.e., FTP) since the end of MAY! Their answer is not fix the problem,
    but to tell you to switch to 3G! If you are on Smarty/Three etc.,and
    experiencing this problem (3G faster than 4G), TELL Three/Smarty and
    everyone else and claim a FREE month! Maybe, then they will DO something
    about this!

      Yeah – we had the ‘try using 3g thing’ – its more stable but obviously a tenth of the max bandwidth

    My 3 account is still down today but no one seems to know when it will come back on line. As I am getting very annoyed with it and fed up with having having no Internet. And considering switching to a different Internet provider.

    Absolutely no signal in Leighton Buzzard, south Beds down to Hemel Hempstead, Herts. Been totally dead at least since Sunday the 17th…five days and counting! Bought a 3 sim to use in the US next week, can’t get it registered, can’t set up for roaming. Not just me, 3’s own site shows their are problems in these areas. How can they stay in business with outages like this? Their coverage, compared to BT, is really thin, even if it did work!

    Three network signal is completely dead in Dumfries, Scotland and has been dead for 2 days now. Nothing working at all. Not text voice or data. No bars on phone. Tried two different phone which previously were working with different Three SIMs – nothing works. Three SUCKS. A Vodafone SIM I have is working in my phone so I can survive but I’m annoyed with Three.

    For afew days weve had internet problems (cambridge area) and as a 6 year loyal customer im annoyed at the fact I was expected to pay £35 last month and now cant even go online…three you seriously need to slash your all you can eat bolt on’s back to £15/£20 a month as your getting greedy!

    For 3 months I’ve been working in Broughton, preston and cannot get a signal. All other networks work but everyone on 3 has to go outside and then it keeps disconnectin. Driving me insane. Will not be renewing my contract when it expires at Christmas

    I live in Hockley Essex and can’t ring my phone from my landline it doesn’t even give me the ringtone when I dial my 3 number. But I can call my landline with my mobile and 123

    I am having problems with my services with 3 in Birkenhead I changed my contract to sim only 6 days ago and I still can’t phone out or do anything through my data allowance and every time I phone 3 up they keep saying it will be sorted in 48 hours and still nothing working

    Royal docks/ Gallions reach network suddenly floats between no network and one bar so internet calls browsing etc is excrutatingly tidious when possible. Have unlimited data which i cant use since 00:00hrs saturday morning 11/02/17. Seems planned timing was too specific.

      If you are in Germany your phone should pick up a local network, this is nothing to do with Three in UK.
      Alternatively try these options.
      1.go to your phone setting and manually search for one of the local networks
      2. turn your data roaming on.
      3.If you have access to your Three online account , login and make sure your roaming setting is on.
      Also you can contact Three uk via Twitter and they will check this for you.

    Keep trying to top up data and credit online on several different occasions. The site takes my card details but does not convert to data/ credit. Also data seems to run out very quickly now compared with previous months.

    I have had limited or no signal in Central London for over a week now. I downloaded the Three WiFi calling app which helps at home, but this is not a great solution. I am paying for calling and data which is not being provided, which means my phone is essentially a tablet now. When will signal be restored?

    This is very helpful. It does not explain what exactly the technical problem or problems is/are. Nor does it detail what three mobile intend to do to remedy this unacceptable lapse in provision of a service, consumers(their paying customers)are buying. When did it become legal to offer one thing, take money for it and then give us a dead cat?

      I have persevered with 3 for long enough I travel into uk every couple of months and Spain so thought it would be ideal after 2 years and speaking to so many other users trying to work and keep in touch with family the signal n Internet and phone is abysmal

    Three has been a nightmare all week so far, signal issues in the South East of London and when working, which makes it a bigger problem. I have lost signal all day today, then it finds it again, then loses again, and so on. I am thinking of changing to Virgin or O2.
