Doom beta release restricted to next gen & PC

The upcoming Doom beta will be available to players who pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order, however this has reportedly been restricted to the next gen platforms and PC. Those who reserve their copy of Wolfenstein on Xbox or PlayStation will get a corresponding beta key for either the Xbox One or PS4.

Players who wish to play the Doom reboot beta will need to have an Xbox Live membership, PS4 gamers fortunately do not need a PlayStation Plus subscription to take part. Wolfenstein: The New Order will launch on May 20th in the US, Europe and Australia; the beta key will accompany the game. The Doom beta is yet to get an official start date, Bethesda has told players to stay posted for news.

This news however will be disappointing for PS3, Xbox 360 and Mac players who may have been looking forward to taking part in the Doom beta. This may also lead to fears that the full release of the new Doom game will skip current gen consoles and be exclusively available to the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Hopefully we will hear more details on this exciting Doom prospect soon, this game could be huge and surpass the classic originals.
