Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze may have 5th character

If you are a big Donkey Kong Country fan and looking forward to Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, we have some good news for you. The upcoming game was part of Nintendo’s special feature at the Spike VGX awards over the weekend, with Retro Studios and Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime revealing some brand new gameplay that hasn’t been seen before.

We previously knew that the game would be out in February 2014, but now we can reveal that the Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze release date will be February 21 in the US. In the video we have for you below, you’ll see two new levels being shown for the game and the grand reveal of Cranky Kong as the 4th character.

However, if you pay attention to the video when the second level is being played, you’ll hear hints on a possible 5th character that could still be coming to the game. At the moment we now have Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Cranky Kong and Dixie Kong.

With a 5th character possibly in the pipeline – who could it be, perhaps the likes of Kiddy Kong from DKC3 or even Funky Kong? Who knows, Nintendo and Retro Studios could even surprise us with a brand new character that has never been seen before.

Watch the video below to hear the the tease about a 5th character at the 4:40 mark – Reggie certainly eludes to this possibility. Let us know your ideas on this below.
