Dixons Carphone jobs not at risk in UK PC World, Currys merge

Some important news has landed for UK consumers this morning, with the announcement from Dixons Carphone stating that remaining PC World and Currys stores in the UK will be merged into a 3-in-1 format which will also see Carphone Warehouse outlets included in each retail location.

As a result, Dixons Carhouse has said that 134 stores across the UK and Ireland are due to close to prepare for the new changes.

With the merge combining PC World, Currys and Carphone Warehouse stores into a 3-in-1 format, Dixon Carphone does not expect to make any job losses.

The change is being touted as one way to increase sales and profits across the stores, whilst providing convenience to UK consumers who’ll now be able to buy their electronics and smartphone products in the same retail space.

Further details on the news is available at FT. There’s no clear statement yet on when stores are expected to close, but stay tuned for more information on this as we get it.

As a UK consumer who regularly shops at PC World, Currys and Carphone Warephone, give us your reaction to the news and whether you view the merge as a good thing for you personally.
