Discovery Channel HD: New App Launches for iPad

After launching an application for the Apple iPhone back in 2009, the Discovery Channel has now decided it’s about time to launch an app specifically for the iPad. The app is free to download from the Apple App Store, and provides users with videos, images, TV schedules and much more.

As James over on the website recently reported, the Discovery Channel HD app enables users to see what is on prime time television in their area that night. Once they have found a specific program they want to watch, they can tap an alarm clock to remind them to tune in.

It also allows users to watch videos and learn more about a show and its cast, as well as browse through images from production photo shoots. The app even enables you to view photos from all of the Discovery Channels top shows, as well as watch videos that are updated daily.

If the users’ favorite Discovery Channel show just happens to be on during prime time, they can tap on the “I’m Watching” button to then let their Facebook and Twitter friends know exactly what they are watching. You can even do this while you receive the latest Discovery social media updates.

You can read more about this application — which requires the device to be running iOS 3.2 or above – via the website. Discovery has promised updates for the app in the future, which will add more videos, TV shows and images from the Discovery Channel.

What do you think of the Discovery Channel app?
