While PC owners are absolutely loving Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls right now after reading stunning reviews, the same cannot be said for Xbox One owners who appear to be in limbo on the chances of seeing a Diablo 3 Xbox One release date in 2014.
At the moment, Diablo 3 has only been confirmed for PS4 and there appears to be a great deal of confusion in the air as to what is actually happening with the Xbox One version.
This week, we are happy to confirm that Diablo 3 on Xbox One is going to release. However, there is no release date for the time being meaning that we may not see it in 2014. Blizzard has admitted that they don’t know what’s happening with the Xbox One version either too, but did give the important information out that an Xbox One version is being developed alongside the PS4 version.
That tells us that the holdup is purely on the financial aspects or some dispute that is ongoing behind the scenes. When speaking to Videogamer recently, here is what Blizzard’s Alex Mayberry had to say on the issue:
“I don’t know where we are with Microsoft right now so I can’t really comment on what that contract looks like. The point is we are developing for Xbox [One] and PS4 simultaneously – Blizzard and Microsoft can work out whatever they work out.”
Remember that when Diablo 3 does arrive on PS4 and Xbox One, it will come packaged as the Diablo Ultimate Evil Edition, which contains the main game as well as the recently launched Reaper of Souls expansion.
While it is refreshing to hear that the game is being developed on the Xbox One, are you worried that there are no further details on when it could release? Do you think that an exclusive agreement with Sony is holding up talks with Microsoft?
