Diablo 3 PS3 multiplayer gameplay shows co-op

If Diablo 3 is on your radar this year on the PS3 and Xbox 360, you will definitely want to check out this video we have for you, taking a look at the game’s multiplayer mode and co-op features on console. The game won’t be available to buy until September, but new gameplay coming out of E3 2013 lets you see just how impressive the game looks from its transition over from PC.

Diablo 3 on console looked like a distant dream a few years ago, but Blizzard has answered fans in style with a console version that is looking very good indeed. Diablo 3 is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 3, with an PS4 version also in the pipeline, but so far no concrete release information from Blizzard.

The video above gives you a detailed insight into how co-op mode will look on the console version, supporting up to 4 players for either local or online play. If you haven’t had the chance to experience the Diablo franchise before, it looks like the PS3 version on offer here does a great job in replicating the same experience that has been possible on PC over the last few years.

The visuals look fantastic and the video also shows you how easy it is to set up parties using the PS3 messaging system to ensure that you never go into battle alone. During multiplayer, each player will then have their set of skills appear in each corner of the screen. It looks pretty frantic in the video, but still organized enough for everyone to have a true Diablo experience on console.

Just to remind you, the console versions of the game won’t feature the same online DRM requirements as the PC version. This means that you’ll be able to play Diablo 3 on Xbox 360 or PS3 offline, without the game asking you for a persistant connection. This could also be the reason why there hasn’t been an Xbox One version announced, as we all know that you’ll need to check in online once every 24 hours when playing games on the new system.

What are your thoughts on Diablo 3 multiplayer, based on the video above? Will you be buying the console version in September or not?

Can’t wait! I hope the release is a roaring success. My husband and I are starving for a good dungeon crawler with local co-op. I hope this will show game developers there IS a market for players like us who would rather play with friends on the couch with us than online with complete strangers.
