Some authentic trading cards have been made available for the upcoming Destiny title, and there is a distinct possibility these cards could gain gamers access to in-game content. Coming to the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Destiny is a first-person RPG shooter set in a mythical science fiction world developed by Bungie.
With beta testing expected this summer Destiny is scheduled to release on the 9th September, 2014 and the beta will brace the PS3 and PS4 prior to the other two Microsoft consoles. Anticipation has been building for this game ever since Bungie demoed live gameplay footage at last year’s E3 conference.
A selection of the cards in question, were handed out by Bundie during a collection of events last year and each one has a description of a player class or in-game location, along with some unique codes that could involve in-game content.
In an informative yet brief article on MP1ST, a list of cards that have been collated by the Destiny fan site Desti-Nation has been documented, as cards that hold keys to unannounced content and the download code can be redeemed by any number of users, which is ideal for sharing among others.
We are still in the dark about what kind of content this may unlock, but each card seems to have its own unique code. The list of current trading cards can be seen on the aforementioned MP1ST website, which is worth checking out while we wait for news on the incoming beta.
In a recent post we discussed the Destiny public beta signalled as this title is being classed as Activision’s biggest new IP launch ever. We highlighted the emerging screenshots of the game and expressed our own excitement about the new IP, not to mention Eric Hirshberg comments about what he feels “has the potential to become its third billion-dollar franchise.”
Eric Hirshberg is Activision’s CEO and publishing president, and he gives us the impression the team behind this title are looking forward to “expanding this universe” in the future.
