Destiny PS4 news with Halo style box art

If Dark Souls 2 is going to be considered as one of the games to look out for in 2014, then the same definitely needs to be said with Destiny as well, Bungie’s upcoming RPG shooter that has gained a massive following since its initial announcement.

The game is coming to current-gen and next-gen consoles, but Activision and Bungie have already confirmed that Sony has an exclusive agreement in place to ensure that PS3 and PS4 will receive some exclusive Destiny content not found on the Xbox versions.

It’s a surprising turn of events given Activision’s history with Microsoft in relation to Call of Duty, but PS3 owners will definitely not be complaining about this. Sony seems to be marketing the game like it’s an exclusive in the meantime and this week we can finally bring you the official box art.

Bungie’s community manager has uploaded the box art over at the official PlayStation Blog, revealing a design which definitely looks like it has taken a hint of inspiration from Halo – who can blame Bungie for this though given their long history with the franchise?

The image you see above shows the backs of three warrior Guardians, comprising of the Titan, Hunter, and Warlock classes. Bungie has teased that each class has incredible power, with their sole duty being to protect Earth on the last safe city.

Is that Masterchief in disguise?
Is that Masterchief in disguise?

The pose of the centre warrior is very typical of Halo and usually a pose where we would see Masterchief gazing into the environment around him. It almost seems surreal still that the Halo developers are finally making a game for PlayStation platforms, so enjoy this box art and let it be a reminder that 2014 is going to be a great year.

We can also bring you a heads-up that new Destiny gameplay is coming over the next few hours. Stay tuned for that and let us know your thoughts on the game so far. Could it really be the game of 2014 or do you think it will end up being a game like Fallout 4?
