Desert Strike game for PS4 and Xbox One?

We have some exciting news for fans of the Strike franchise as there is a chance that the old school game may get a next gen release in the future. The term “Desert Strike” has been filed with the US trademarks and patents office by Electronic Arts. This will certainly fuel speculation that the games developer is planning to launch a Strike title for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Although details are pretty scarce right now, it could be an early indication that EA plan to revive their franchise which was previously released on platforms such as the PS One, Nintendo 64 and PC back in the 16-bit era. The patent application was filed on November 28th and the full details of this can be seen here.

There is certainly a big market for warfare and strategy games right now with massive titles such as Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 getting next gen launches recently. It remains to be seen though if EA would relish the challenge of bringing Strike back into this fiercely competitive gaming market.

How would you feel about a Desert Strike game on the PS4 or Xbox One, is it something you would want to see?
