Comcast Xfinity TV Remote Control App: Now Available on Android

After successfully launching its Xfinity TV remote control app for the Apple iPhone and iPad, Comcast has now decided to release the app for Android devices. However, it unfortunately doesn’t include a video streaming to the app feature as of yet, as this will be added on at a later date.

According to a recent article by Richard Lawler over at engadget.com, the Xfinity TV remote control app for Android currently supports the basic of features such as searching the Video on Demand library, remote controlling your cable boxes and setting up DVR recordings.

As Richard notes, the app is currently optimized for smartphones, although it should work on tablet PCs too despite there being no official support yet. The Xfinity TV remote control app even enables users to filter the content by network, HD, genre, free and a lot more.

The application does require an Internet connection (3G or Wi-Fi) and a compatible cable/set top box, as well as a Comcast ID or Comcast.net e-mail address and password. The Xfinity TV app will work on most handsets running Google Android 2.1 or 2.2.

You can download the app from the Android Market now. Do you own an Android device and a cable/set top box? If so, will you be downloading the Comcast Xfinity TV Remote Control app?
