We’ve heard about quite a few video game reboots recently, but none can possibly be as unusual as a 21st century remake of the ancient but classic Apple II game Choplifter. The new game — which is titled Choplifter HD — is coming to the PSN and PC sometime in the autumn.
According to a recent article by Fred Dutton over on the eurogamer.net website, the upcoming Choplifter HD game is being developed by inXile Entertainment, who also happens to be the developer behind the much-awaited third-person action game Hunted: The Demon’s Forge.
For those that don’t know what Choplifter is, it’s a Broderbund-published game originally launched on the Apple II back in 1982. The original, which became a huge hit and was later ported to other platforms, had players ferrying hostages between the enemy bases and their own headquarters.
The new Choplifter HD versions will feature a total of 20 missions, which will range from saving survivors or viral outbreaks to extracting captured POWs. InXile boss Brian Fargo says that the feedback they’ve received on creating a new take on the Choplifter game has been really positive.
