Even before people started to get their hands on the Apple Watch, there was some concern that the stainless steel could scratch easily, something that was a bit of an issue for the backs on the iPod several years ago. So, we should not be surprised to learn that several owners have started to report their new purchase already has scratches on them.
Apple had told us that this sort of thing would be hard to happen seeing as though it was cold-forged for extra hardness, but the video below shows this not to be the case. However, before you start to panic that your new purchase is now ruined, there is said to be a quick and cheap fix.
According to the video below the Apple Watch scratches can be fixed cheaply and easily, well for $5 in fact. All you need to do is pick up some decent metal polish and this will remove those scratches, or you could even ask your local jeweler or watch repair shop to do it for you.
We know that this sort of thing should not happen to such an expensive device, or new come to that, but any product made from stainless steel suffers from this problem, and not just Apple.
The good news is, this will not happen to the Apple Watch Sport, as this model is made from the 7000 series aluminum, and so will not scratch as easily as 316L grade stainless steel. Speaking of repairing your Apple Watch, the recent teardown has shown this device very tough to mend, and so you should not even attempt to do so yourself after the warranty period.
Has your Apple Watch started to scratch, and if so did this simple fix work for you?
