Certain iOS 5 features copied from Android

The two beasts in the smartphone operating system market will be iOS and Android, and while we hear our Apple readers when they say “the iPhone is just one phone and it manages to compete will loads of different brands running Android OS”, you still have to give Android a lot of credit for what has been achieved.

It’s fair to say that Apple has an amazing business model and the amount of hype around each iPhone release once a year, longer this time around with iPhone 5, is massive thanks to the dedicated following, although Android is building the same sort of dedicated fans.

Some bloggers are starting to point out new iOS 5 features that are already on Android devices, in fact this has got so far up some bloggers noses that they pulled together everything that is already on Android, and only just coming to iOS 5. One article doing just this can be found here on IBTimes, and lists a range of features that are already in existence for Android.

This ranges from Notification Center to Cloud Sync, and Newsstand to Wireless Sync. They also touch on widgets, Twitter integration, and a few more areas.

We know that Apple is rarely the first to certain technology, and are known for building products that combine the tech in such a way to give a finished product better than many others. They innovate like they did with the first generation iPad and iPhone, and one of the most successful media players, the iPod. Have a read of the list that shows apparent copied features in the above link, and share your views on these two OS’s. You may also want to read about Verizon, Sprint and AT&T already having their hands on the final iOS 5.

Apple just does it better. It just “works” when Apple do it.

Android stole it’s entire user interface from SPB Shell for Windows Mobile 6 right down to the moveable widgets, app icons, page sliding, and more. SPB shell came out in 2007 and Android was released in 2008, a year after. Every company “borrows” from each other, don’t single out the one you hate.
