Celebrate National Dog Day 2011 with these apps

Today is not just August 26, 2011; it’s also National Dog Day. This is the day that you and I need to understand the hardship that dogs go through by those who are not fortunate enough to have a loving home. It is also a day where you can reflect on those people who have gone out of their way to rescue dogs in order to give them a better quality of life. Please could you also take a moment and spare a thought for our K9 friends who help the blind, police, fire and rescue service or even children with disabilities, as they offer them a companionship to give them a sense of freedom.

For those of you who are considering getting a dog for yourself or your family, then please do not rush into things. First you need to do some homework, and the easiest way is with some of these apps. The first one we have for you is called Perfect Dog – Ultimate Breed Guide To Dogs. This offers an extensive guide to most dog breeds; not only do you get to see photos but also information on rare and popular dog breeds. The best thing is that this app is totally free.

The following app is simply called Dog and will allow you to become a much better owner. We often have misconceptions about dogs, but all it takes is a little light reading and you will know all the basics to becoming a much better dog owner; again this app is free.

My Dog is a free app that allows you to care for your dog in a way that they would want you to. This app allows you to put your dog’s personal details all in one place, so if there is an emergency with your pet it is all there in one easy place — your iPhone.

These are just three apps that will help you become a much better dog owner — we just hope that you take all the information in.
