If you are one of the many gamers that have been waiting patiently to hear about when Avalanche Software’s much-anticipated Cars 2: The Video Game would be arriving, then we have just the news you have been waiting for. Not only has the developer and the publisher — Disney Interactive Studios — revealed a release date, but they’ve also unveiled details on its star-studded cast.
As noted over at seenit.co.uk, a number of celebrities will be lending their voices to the upcoming Cars 2: The Video Game, including Larry the Cable Guy as Mater and Emily Mortimer. The game — which is available for a number of different platforms including the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC, Mac and Nintendo DS —expands beyond the storyline of the upcoming Disney Pixar movie.
Cars 2: The Video Game enables gamers to play as one of over 20 different characters from the Cars 2 movie, including new challengers such as Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell. Once they have chosen their character, players will then be trained to become a top spy at the international spy training center known as C.H.R.O.M.E. (Command Headquarters for Recon Operations and Motorized Espionage).
Not only will players embark on dangerous missions throughout their training, but they will also compete to become the world’s fastest race car and put their spy skills to the test in battle arenas and non-stop action packed combat racing. According to an article on financialpost.com, players will now be able to experience the action in cities all across the globe including London, Italy and even Tokyo.
The Cars 2: The video game will have support for up to four players in split-screen. It also features connectivity with the World of Cars Online, a free-to-play browser-based virtual world that is tied to Disney Pixar’s animated Cars universe. The game was released today (June 21st) in some regions, while North America have to wait until July 22nd for its arrival.
