Canon EOS 550D DSLR Review: Price Could Affect Sales

For those of you put of by cameras packing an 18-megapixel sensor, then you might want to steer clear of the Canon EOS 550D DSLR. Many camera companies started to slow down their pace to offer increased megapixel rates, so Pocket-lint was shocked to learn of this model.

The gadget website has spent some time with this camera to offer its readers a full review, and begins by saying that Canon are not showing off with its huge sensor. The closet camera to the EOS 550D would have to be the EOS 7D, but this has had the pro treatment and comes with a hefty price tag.

Anyone who is lucky enough to have a Canon DSLR, you will find the layout and its design very familiar, which is not a bad thing. The 550D has a solid feel, even though it is made from plastic. The performance of the new camera is impressive, but for £700 just for the camera — what would you expect?

It is that high price that could affect sales of the Canon EOS 550D DSLR; we just hope that buyers think with their minds and not their wallet. Read the Pocket-lint review
